Mia is a painter, ceramacist, and ceramics instructor based in salt lake city, utah. In cold weather, she also enjoys crocheting crazy looking beanies.
Her work is inspired by slowing down and noticing, in awe inspiring nature and the mundane alike. She uses ceramic and paint mediums to capture the presence and appreciation of beauty that can exist in both of those settings. Beauty is more obvious in some places than others, and she is most interested in where it is not obvious - when it is like a scavenger hunt to find. She also aims to depict an animistic world view, one that acknowledges the spirit of the Earth’s beings (mountains, bodies of water, trees, flowers…). Her work is her way of saying hello and thank you to these beings that surround us.
